Roberto Cavalli Saint-Honoré. |
| We are all well aware that celebrated Italian designer Roberto Cavalli rejects the statement that fashion is more important financially than the visual beauty it affords, so how does that tie in with the announcement that he is unveiling a bespoke service to his more wealthy clients? Calling this new service Roberto Cavalli Saint-Honoré, it will be offering made-to-measure dresses created in Paris, with prices for a cocktail dress starting at a staggering ˆ30,000! This will in no way be a large scale operation, with Roberto’s wife Eva stating that only thirty-five dresses will be created each year. |

H&M Same-Store Sales Fall 5% in June |
| The world recession is seemingly taking no prisoners and the Swedish fashion chain H&M are no exception. They have reported a much larger than expected fall in sales of their clothing in their major outlets for the month of June (2009) to the tune of a 5% year-on-year decrease, meaning the forecast for a modest 1.7% fall in like-for-like sales was blown out the water. Although total sales were actually up by almost 4%, this was actually way down on an 8.3 % forecast rise in sales that was being predicted. |

| Aquascutum has a long history in British fashion circles, dating way back to 1851. It was in this year that tailor and budding entrepreneur John Emary opened an exclusive for the era menswear shop called Box and Co. In 1853 he managed to invent and patent the waterproof wool that would become known as Aquascutum; in fact, that was when he renamed his shop Aquascutum. Aquascutum is actually the Latin word for “water shield”. |

Stella McCartney - Disney partner in autumn/winter 2009-10 collection |
| UK designer Stella McCartney will be launching her autumn/winter 2009-10 collection with the help of that loveable Walt Disney fawn, Bambi. Animal lover Stella has gone on record to say that she choose Bambi because she adored the film because it reminded her of her late mum Linda. Bambi features alongside pals Friend Owl, Thumper and Flower, and a little help from model Sigrid Agren and a live fox. The shoot was taken in the English countryside, Worcestershire to be precise, and the campaign launches in Vogue (in print editions and online) this coming September. |

| Burberry appear to be riding out the current storm affecting the retail industry, thanks in no small part to the weak sterling on the international currency exchanges. Continental European tourists, as well as visitors from China, flocked to the chains British shops in their thousands to take advantage of the great (for them) exchange rates. Burberry executives put this down to the company’s iconic pieces as well as their heritage, meaning that their brand momentum was as healthy as normal. |
