Stella McCartney - Disney partner in autumn/winter 2009-10 collection
UK designer Stella McCartney will be launching her autumn/winter 2009-10 collection with the help of that loveable Walt Disney fawn, Bambi. Animal lover Stella has gone on record to say that she choose Bambi because she adored the film because it reminded her of her late mum Linda.
Bambi features alongside pals Friend Owl, Thumper and Flower, and a little help from model Sigrid Agren and a live fox. The shoot was taken in the English countryside, Worcestershire to be precise, and the campaign launches in Vogue (in print editions and online) this coming September.
Although Disney have partnered with fashion houses in the past, including Dolce & Gabbana and Vivienne Tam, they did so in order to sell their own brands. The use of Bambi, albeit for advertising purposes only, is probably the first time Disney has allowed a character to be used for someone else’s financial gain.
Mother-of-three and British designer Stella McCartney is fulfilling one of her dreams by launching collection children’s fashions for babyGap and GapKids. She was quoted as saying that this is something she has wanted to do for many years and that this one-time collaboration would be the perfect way for customers to try out the McCartney brand for the first time at rather more affordable prices. She thinks that it is important to have affordable clothing for children, especially in the current financial situation.
The limited edition line will be launching at some stage later this year and will appear in Gap stores throughout the UK, Ireland, France, Canada, the United States and Japan.
